Research presentation in conference

Covid pandemic has significantly impacted early career researcher and PhD student. Almost each conferences went virtual which limited the scope to interact with international community, networking and future opportunity creation. After more than 1 and half year later, in the next few months I will be participating in APPEA, ARMA, AEGC and SSIM conference. I will deliver three oral and two poster presentations on geomechanical characterization of unconventional gas shale of Canning Basin and static 3D geomechanical modelling of Ichthys gas field.

Accurate estimation of least principal stress magnitude Shmin have utmost importance from near surface to deep earth covering mining to energy industry. In APPEA conference our work looked into physical mechanism responsible for layer based Shmin magnitude. We found viscoelastic deformation and frictional strength of rock are two main factors contributing to the observed compositionally varying Shmin profile with depth.
